Labor Day Weekend at the Brittany Trials

September 2, 2018 by Anne Taguchi

We got a chance to escape the heat (but endured a hail storm instead!) over Labor Day weekend in the beauuuuutiful White Mountains of Arizona. At 10,000 feet elevation, the air was thin, but the dogs all ran hard. We had a great weekend!

Pictured above is co-owner Jeff Toms with X and her second place ribbon in Open Derby with the Sahuaro Brittany Club. X followed that performance by earning a BLUE the following day in the Open Derby with the Greater Phoenix Brittany Club! Congratulations to Jeff and trainer/handler Todd Yamamoto of Rock Solid Bird Dogs.

Stella also placed at both trials, with two third place ribbons in the Open Puppy. This was Stella’s first field trial, and she ran better each time she was put down. She handled off of horseback like she’d done it her entire life!

Otto won the Sahuaro Brittany Club’s Amateur Limited Gun Dog. He finished strong and to the front, found on point just before time was called. After two other mannerly and stylish finds, this last one on a quail in a tree was even more pretty! Otto ran well and the judges really gave him some wonderful praise!

So all in all a good weekend. Thank you to the clubs, their members and the judges for a couple of fun, well-run trials! Very proud of my dogs this weekend!
